There will be probably hard to find someone who doesn't know Rhapsody in blue, An American in Paris or melodies form Porgy and Bess opera. George Gershwin is known as an icon of American music, Broadway musical, and of course also jazz.
This year we are celebrating 90 years from the first execution of the legendary Rhapsody in blue, written for a star Paul Whiteman. Gershwin's music will be presented by a singer Nina Strnad, pianist Tatjana Ognjanovič and Big Band RTV Slovenija under the baton of director Žare Prinčič. Nina Strnad is one of the most promising young jazz artists. She was also studying jazz in the USA. Her repertoire includes jazz standards, evergreen music and also her own arrangements of golden Slovenian songs. The pianist Tatjana Ognjanovič is one of the best Slovenia's piano players, highly rewarded at many competitions home and abroad, moreover lately she has been attending competitions also as a member of the judging panels. She is a professor at the Ljubljana's academy for music. Maestro Žare Prinčič, director, composer, pianist and also professor at the AGRFT academy spent most of his professional career abroad, in Vienna, Paris and elsewhere. He is one of rare Slovenian musicians, which can sovereignly handle classical and at the same time jazz music.
